Breakwater remains one of my favorite R&B/Soul groups of all time! As a college DJ at Clarion University of Pennsylvania (1978-1982), I gave great air-play to their two albums. I was blown away by their live performance when they visited our campus to perform their hits!!!

Admin reply: Glad to have such loyal fans! Hard at work on the new stuff and can't wait to see if the folks are feelin' it... Tell all your friends we are still here alive and KICKIN!!!
Gene (lead vocals)

I have soooo many memories of the shows and the "Battle of the Bands" and all that!! I'm glad that you're planning a Reunion, because you have music that these kids need to hear!

Glad I found you, now I'm off to find you on Facebook! Peace and Love!

I'm so pleased to find your website. You guys have a HUGE fanbase. I've been scouring the NET trying to find your Album downloads, finally found you on Youtube. Shared it with all my friends on facebook. Know that "Say You Love Me Girl" is my ALL time favorite song. My girls followed your band from venue to venue, whenever we could, we were young teens then. Distinctly remember hanging out with you somewhere in Norristown. Songs bring back very fond memories. I'll make sure to alert all my friends about your website. Looking forward to some great music.

Admin reply: From ALL of us- Lauren - those are sweet and inspiring words! We really get a charge out of comments like this and are glad that the folks who experienced our sound really remember and still love it. We hope to do a couple of reunion gigs in late summer and will post the details....we also created a Breakwater/facebook page where you can see some classic photos, listen to all the music, and leave a note if you like. The new music is coming soon too, so visit again as this site is being re-constructed to give a total Breakwater experience....Thanks again and continue to spread the word !! LOTS OF LOVE BREAKWATER -

Wow! I can’t believe I ran across the website of one of my favorite old school bands. I grew up in Utah where, needless to say, there weren’t a lot of R&B radio stations. When I was in high school one of the local public radio stations had a program called “Weekend Soul” on Saturday evenings. That’s where I first heard groups like Breakwater, Con Funk Shun, Cameo, and others. That influenced my musical taste for the rest of my life. All my old vinyl records are gone now and it’s hard to find some of this classic old school stuff on disk. I’m looking forward to being able to download from your website. Thanks for all the wonderful tunes and memories!

Admin reply: From Gene: Dave - When I see the kind words from fans of the music, I can't help but wonder what we would have come up with had we continued to record back then....well, after realizing how much folks enjoyed and related to the sound, we're back at it again full steam ahead! Hopefully U will love the new/upcoming stuff as much as the old...Be on the lookout! THANKS

It's wonderful to see most of you guys still alive and well. Your music gets alot of play both in my home and my workplace. I wasn't even born when you debuted (lol) or maybe I WAS there - in a past life which is why I have always had a jones for old-school music. Do you have any unreleased tracks in the vaults you plan on releasing any time soon?

Sincerely,

MsM

Admin reply: From Gene - thanks for the support! We have found a loyal Breakwater following exists and are working like mad to release some new/old-unreleased music. Please come back for a visit and sometime soon we should have snippets available on this site of the new stuff.... thanks again for the kind words!

I remember the battle of the bands at belmont plateau. No band there could touch you guys. When breakwater came on the people were in awe.

Admin reply: Thanks Mike! - We always strived to be the best and not cut any corners.....Please tell folks that we will soon have some new music to share and hope that it will fill a void - be on the look out!!!!

I was with "Bambu" back in the day (West Philly). Just checked out Soul Devalents, Maze, Futures and saw Breakwater on Line. There is no sound today like back-in-the-day You guys were bad!!!

Admin reply: From Gene: Merry Christmas ! ....and those indeed were the days...I can't say I remember your band, but the city was indeed a mecca for all the great young R&B players of the day. We are alive and kickin and still have some things to say musically 30 yrs. later!! Thanks for remebering and visit often!!!!

Y'all were brilliant!!! When I went to school at Hampton, I turned all the serious music lovers I met on to Breakwater and they loved it!!!!! Some jerkoff stole my album!!!

Admin reply: From Gene: - Thanks for your kind words...Hopefullly, we can find a way to make the CDS more affordable as opposed to having to pay import prices.....also we or some of us hope to release an internet CD this year. We want to continue where we left off musically as well bringing some new flavor to the material. Keep checking the site when you can and thanks for all you support!!!!
